This page explains what we collect when you visit Tickle & Compass or sign up for our downloads, why we collect it, and the choices you have under Canadian privacy law. It applies to this site and to the Tickle & Compass TFSA vs. RRSP Cheat Sheet signup.
This site is operated by Tickle & Compass. Where this policy says "we," "us," or "Tickle & Compass," it means that operator. We're a small, independent publisher — not a bank, advisor, or credit union — and this policy covers only the data we collect directly through this site.
We collect information in two ways:
We use your email address to send the resource you asked for, and — only if you don't opt out — occasional follow-up emails about the same topics covered on this page (banking, investing, credit, and taxes for Canadians). We do not sell, rent, or trade your email address to third parties.
This site sets one necessary cookie: a record of the choice you make in the cookie banner, so we don't ask you again on every visit. It doesn't track you and isn't shared with anyone.
If you choose "Accept all," you're also opting in to an analytics cookie — currently unused, reserved for if we add a web analytics tool in the future, at which point we'll name the tool here before it goes live. You can change your choice at any time using the "Cookie preferences" link in the footer.
If you click through one of our "See options" links, the destination site — the bank, broker, or provider you land on — may set its own cookies to track the referral. That's governed by their privacy policy, not ours; we don't have access to what they collect.
Some links on Tickle & Compass are affiliate links: if you sign up through one, we may earn a commission at no extra cost to you. Clicking a link takes you to a third party's site, and once you're there, their privacy policy applies — not this one. We choose partners based on relevance to Canadian readers, not on commission size, but we don't control or audit their data practices.
Submitting the signup form is your express consent, under Canada's Anti-Spam Legislation (CASL), to receive the download and related messages from us. Every commercial email we send identifies its sender and includes a working unsubscribe link. If you unsubscribe or ask us to stop, we'll honour that within 10 business days, as CASL requires. You can also withdraw consent any time by emailing us directly at the address in Section 11.
We keep the amount of data we collect deliberately small, and we take reasonable technical and organizational steps — appropriate to a small independent publisher — to protect it from loss or unauthorized access. We retain your email address only for as long as you stay subscribed, or as needed to fulfil a request you made; you can ask us to delete it at any time.

Tickle & Compass is intended for adults managing their own finances. This site is not directed at children, and we don't knowingly collect information from anyone under 13.
If we change how we collect or use your information, we'll update the effective date at the top of this page. Material changes — anything that expands what we collect or how we use it — will also be flagged in our next email to subscribers.
